Spending too much on your makeup and cosmetics? Here are 7 tips to help you save money on your cosmetics.

Makeup and toiletries can seem like they cost a boat load nowadays. With the price of literally everything inflating, it’s wise to try and save money where you can.

The good news is you don’t have to give up altogether treating yourself to makeup and toiletries. There are ways you can save a bundle when shopping.

Here are 7 tips to turn you into a smart makeup shopper.

1. Use Up What You’ve Got

Many people (myself included) often waste the last bits of old toiletries or even just stop using them in favor of a new brand out on the market. While at the time this may seem like a good idea, you’re wasting your money in the long run.

If you don’t like the taste of your mouthwash, or the smell of that body polish, just grit your teeth and use it anyway! You could even have toiletries you’d completely forgotten about in the back of cupboards or drawers.

2. Go For Cheaper Brands

You don’t have to downgrade on all of your products. However, there are plenty of cheaper branded cosmetics out there that are as good as their more expensive counterparts!

Next time you need a new lipstick or mascara, try a cheaper brand in the same color.

3. Buy In Bulk

Buying in bulk usually saves you money. Doing this for all your toiletries will see your savings quickly add up! Even buying the largest size of a product can save you money in the long run.

4. Use Coupons

Be on the lookout in your email inbox, text messages and at flyers/letters through your door. You’ll often get offers and vouchers posted here, but most people forget to use them. Boots send me discount vouchers and points vouchers every month!

5. Shop Somewhere With a Points Card

Boots used to be the original cosmetic and toiletry store with a points card, but now Superdrug have muscled in and do their own too. Building up points on your card every time you shop there can mean free mascara next time you need one – or if you save up for months and months maybe even all of your Christmas shopping!

6. Collect Samples

Collect samples wherever you go, such as hotels or other public events. Some makeup counters will even give you samples if you ask them!

Stockpile these and you’ll have extra products not to mention be able to test out brands before you buy them.

7. Use Less Product

The truth is, you’re probably already using double the amount of certain products than you need to. You only need a small amount of toothpaste (no where near the amount they use in adverts), You only need to shampoo once, not to mention all the toilet paper that goes to waste!

Try your best to use a bit less of as many toiletries as you can and you’ll find them lasting longer with more money in your pocket. Shopping at stores such as Home Bargains could save you a load on your bill too.
